This amazing delicious, incredibly versatile winter green smoothie recipe uses pears, apples and bananas, and works amazingly well with every leafy green I’ve thrown at it. So far I’ve tried spinach, chard/silverbeet, arugula/roquette, kale, bok choy, chicory, collards and chinese broccoli. Amazing.
Chicory recipes and articles
I picked up a vibrant bunch of fresh chicory from my local organic greengrocer yesterday, and made a salad with kelp noodles, sauerkraut and red capsicum. It was tangy and bitter, with a hint of sweet from the red capsicum, and the lemon juice pulled it all together nicely.
I've been drinking my own version of Bulletproof coffee, which I call "fat coffee", using chicory coffee substitute and a generous teaspoon of coconut oil. This is definitely not a low-fat drink, but it is full of healthy fats, and it is rather delicious.
